Hispanic Health Initiatives, Inc. (HHI) is the only 501 (c) 3 Hispanic operated, multi-county, volunteer driven, community based, health education and referral organization in Central Florida. HHI’s mission is to educate medically under-served families, in a linguistically correct and culturally sensitive manner, about chronic diseases, disease management and prevention; and refer them to community health care providers. HHI believes that quality health care should be easily accessible and affordable to everyone regardless of their social status or income level. HHI has emerged as a leader in “Opening Pathways” (Abriendo Caminos) amongst area health care providers and the individuals in need of their services.
HHI is pleased to announce the celebration of its 10th Anniversary with “Unidos en Salud: The HHI Gala”, on June 5, 2010. This fundraising event will be held at the Rosen Shingle Creek Hotel and Resort in Orlando, FL.
In view of the current economic downturn and the fact that Hispanics are the largest group of people within Central Florida without health insurance, our community is in greater need of HHI’s services now more than ever. HHI’s goal for the Gala is to raise $100,000, to expand our services to meet the rising needs of our community such as assistance for women diagnosed with breast cancer who do not have the means to seek treatment, expansion of Diabetes prevention and self-management classes in English and childhood obesity prevention programs. We are confident that with your help, we will be able to reach our goal.
